The last 50 years for Westley Richards have seen a phenomenal rise from near obscurity to a once again proud and highly successful gun and rifle maker. This turnaround was initially made possible by the purchasing of the majority shareholding in the company by Walter Clode in 1957. The initial success's after the purchase came from Walters acquisition of the various Armouries of the once great Indian Rulers including those from, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Dholpur.

The substantial funds raised from these ventures were not idly wasted but re-invested into the press tool making side of the business that to this day is one of the most successful in the country. This investment in a strong modern engineering base would later prove hugely valuable in developing the superb guns and rifles now produced by Westley Richards.

With such growth in both the Gun Making and Tool Making sides of the business it made every sense for Walter Clodes son Simon, a former deep sea diver, to join the company in 1987. His own unique blend of business flair and respect for old traditions has seen Westley Richards continue to expand both the products it offers and the services it now provides to its customers worldwide.

Unselfishly Simon and the expert team of Gunmakers at Westley Richards share credit for the re-introduction of the shotguns and rifles so superbly built today, many of the designs for which were perfected over 100 years ago. New rifle calibres, proportionate action bodies and beautifully crafted leather products have been introduced, proving that Westley Richards is still at the forefront of innovation and product development.

As these fabulously crafted products came to the market so Simon realised the huge potential and appreciation for Westley Richards products in the USA and so in 1997 The Westley Richards Agency USA was established. Thus for the first time in nearly 50 years Westley Richards opened a new office which to this day offers its many clients an efficient import/export service, a full range of high quality clothing and accessories, as well as selling new and second-hand guns and rifles.

Karena, Simon's daughter joined the company in 2005 and has taken on the task of developing the new safari product line, whilst simultaneously promoting Westley Richards in new markets, vital to the future of the company.
