Rashid Hadi |
 |
Engraver
Born in Sudan in 1961, Rashid came to the UK at the age of four. His cousin is Malcolm Appleby - the UK's foremost gun engraver - and it was during school holidays at Malcolm's home that Rashid first encountered the art of engraving. After some initial instruction from his cousin, Rashid largely taught himself the art, and after just one term at Sir John Cass College in London, joined John Wilkes in 1983. After two years with John Wilkes, Rashid worked freelance for Purdey's, Symes & Wright, Rigby, Holland & Holland, and Peter Chapman. In 1997 he joined Westley Richards, where he specialises in the most intricate gold inlay, steel carving and steel piercing. Rashid has produced some of the finest work ever seen at Westley Richards. |
